My pay looks wrong or did not arrive — what now?

Compare payslips with your hours, raise it with payroll, then Employment NZ if it stays unresolved.

Start with facts: rosters, timesheets, payslips, and your employment agreement. Ask payroll in writing what each line means — ordinary pay, overtime, allowances, and deductions should be traceable.

Employers must keep wage and time records and pay at least minimum wage for hours worked. If underpayment continues, Employment New Zealand explains how to report a breach. Keep copies of everything.

While you sort it out, protect must-pay bills and call MoneyTalks if cash is tight. Educational only.

Calm next moves

  • Photograph rosters and clock-in records.
  • Check minimum wage rates on employment.govt.nz
  • Employment NZ — 0800 20 90 20
