Who can I talk to if I am struggling mentally?

Free helplines are available 24/7 — call or text 1737 anytime, or use specialist lines for youth and addiction.

You do not need to be in crisis to ask for help. Need to talk? (1737) offers free call or text to a counsellor at any hour. Youthline supports young people; Alcohol Drug Helpline supports substance concerns.

Your GP can refer you to subsidised counselling or mental health services. If you are in immediate danger of harming yourself or others, call 111.

Educational signposting only — helplines complement but do not replace ongoing care from health professionals.
